Has Anyone Had Warranty Voided For Pyro?

I am just curious if anyone here had there warranty voided due to them having a pyro installed OR if they had pipe plug on the manifold with NOTHING installed. (AKA-removed box before taking it to the dealer)

Can the dealer void your drivetrain warranty due to a pipe plug (where the pyro used to be) in the manifold?

I don't think so. I guess if they can prove your pyro caused the warranty issue. I would leave the pyro.

My dealer doesn't care if one has gauges. The didn't give mine a second look. Now a box is something different.

A lot of dealers wont warranty the turbo if the pyro is before the turbo in the manifold. If anything ever happens to the probe in the manifold you can kiss your turbo good-bye. But you get the most accurate readings out of the manifold also.

Has anyone lost a turbo due to a pre-turbo pyro breaking?

I don't think it's ever happened.

I would bet more of a big truck issue years back with inferior material being used for the probe. I would think after a certain amt of time the heat cycling would be an issue. And these would be treated as a maintenance item BUT big trucks count miles in the Millions……….. Our trucks…..i wouldn’t even 2nd guess my probe.

Most big trucks run them after the turbo nowadays, or all of the ones I've seen do.

If you look at the cummins warranty book you can get voided for nearly anything. You can even get voided for not using an approved filter. I will look at work (I work for a cummins dealer) today and see if i can find something to post. Also if they will void your warranty for a pyro, why is there a pyro you can get through mopar acessories.

Every vehicle manufacturer puts the same statement in their manuals about voiding warranties if you add anything to the vehicle. They have to to protect their *****. But having a pyro probe won't void anything unless it breaks and goes through the turbo.

I'd leave the probe in. I would think a bolt in the manifold would throw up more red flags than a pyrometer.

Keep in mind the dealer may void the warranty. However, the Magnusson Moss Act requires them to PROVE the part you instaled caused the damage you are trying to warranty.

Unfortunately, you usually have to get a lawyer involved to force them (DC/Dealer) to comply with the Magnusson Moss Act.
