Warranty Voided turbo timer
Dealer rep Voided my warranty because I had a spdiesel turbo timer installed
said its an after market item and no way for them to prove thats all it does.
What a joke have to remove it and they might reinstate my warranty. My last Mopar vehicle ever I had enough of there this. all this cause when its 10* and minus I get an engine code, my grid heater doesnt stay on long enough but dont listen to me its only my truck. Its just a bull excuse cause i have a Fisher plow on it. Lame.. beware any after market parts , even the service manager sides with me.but rep want listen..I am ticked

I agree, I've had the service mgr at a local dealer in San Antonio tell me that he was going to red flag my warranty because I was in there buying oil filters to change my own oil??? Another dealer (that sells Rams w/ lifts and 35's) told me that I voided my warranty becuase I was running aftermarket oversized tires (33's, no lift).... WHAT THE???? DC is crap, just like FORD. I've called DC numerous times.... I can tell you, this ABSOLUTELY is my last Dodge product. Come on Toyota.... build that diesel... with a CAT...
Just a couple of thoughts -
a) Can you get a copy of the description of the product from SP Diesel's website and show it to them?
b) Have you contacted SP Diesel directly to see if they'll talk to the Dealer rep?
That's just crazy he (or she) would void the warranty for something like that. I'm always wondering about it when I take my truck in and the dealership sees my gauges. And like my signature says - that's the only mods I'm making on this darn truck until the warranty is up.
But, I just had mine in last week to get the CP3 replaced and I acutally got a compliment out of the service tech about my gauges, and the service writers don't seem to care - I was up front with them and told them they were gauges only - nothing else going on under the hood. The service tech even rerouted my fuel pressure gauge line a little bit in a way that I hadn't thought of when he reattached the banjo bolt to the new CP3- now it's more out of the way of other hoses, etc. He drives a 2nd gen monster - not sure what he's running, but I feel better when he's the one working on my truck...

This comes up again and again. THe simple fact is that often times, dealers, service managers, reps, whomever, try to take the "easy way" out by simply claiming to void your warranty. The truth of the matter is that if the CANNOT DIRECTLY PROVE that your aftermarket modification caused the part in question to fail, they MUST honor your warranty.
THis is where it gets fun (at least for silly philosophers like me
). Good luck having them try to PROVE a direct cause & effect on anything. It's pretty simple to blow a hole in any claim they try to make regarding what a part may or may not have done.

the local dealer found a "plug loose" and voided a guys warranty.
it was where he had a box hooked up.
the world is full of stupid people, and i don't mind that, but when they are stubborn, and you can't explain anything to them (or worse yet, they can't understand a TSB that you have to print out and take to them)
it's just tough.
i don't Toyota or any other brand will be different, because CarLot People are like snakes, they just slither from one rock to the next. wife & kids worked at car lots for years. just amazing.

Maybe at a reduced rate :-) ????
Yeah - the problem is that sometimes they'll stick with their red flags until you decide to retain counsel and have your lawyer contact them, which ends up being expensive as well...

I agree that some dealers stick to "their guns" way too long just to prove a point. That's why, sometimes, it's better just to go to a competing dealer and tell them that you are there just because of the other delaer's incompetence.
Go to a different dealer and tell them you want a dealer that will help you from now on. They would be stupid to not help you because that is potential money from sales later on down the road... Personally I would tell the dealer to...umm...anyways, find a good dealer.
