This thread has confused me .
Only one time I've heard of a stock balancer coming apart and this was on a 60's muscle car converted to a drag car. Big block spinning past 7000rpms.
I had no clue this could/would happen on a bombed Cummins.
About the "gear rattle" question..... that one still has me stumped. I have no clue what you guys are talking about.

It's mostly a problem/issue for guys with 6 speeds and double disk clutches. With a double there is no room for spings in the hubs, so the disks are solid. At idle with the clutch engaged the input shaft of the tranny resonates with the torsional harmonics produced by the motor. It makes a gear clashing noise and the truck sounds about like a 24V. If you push the clutch in or rev the motor even 100 rpms the noise goes away. The hope was that the Fluidampr would damp out those harmonics, quiet the driveline down, and help save the gears a little.

Learn something new everyday.... thanks
On the other hand, I think you guys are expecting alot out of a dampener. Fluid is a good piece, have used many on BBC's with no problems.. Goodluck

I'm waiting to hear the results also. I think it's very unlikely that a new Fluidamper mounted on the front of your crank is gonna help any noise coming from your clutch/trans. Just my opinion though...

Someone posted on the other site , got 15 miles on it and did it becouse to the clutch/ gear noise and he said it works , when I would build engines having balanced was one of the 1st things I would do , so I'm watching this to see if someone is getting some value with a A.T.
