Front/Rear Sway Bars - 2004 3500 2wd
I just put Bilsteins on all 4 corners. Next week 285/75/17 Nitto Dura Grapplers get installed.
Now my attention is turning to handling - less body lean. The truck came with a 30mm - 1 3/16" - anti-sway bar in front. Given the front end weight with the CTD, a 30mm bar seems to be a bit small. Hellwig makes a 34mm - 1 3/8" - bar and I have to wonder if the installation of the larger Hellwig bar in front would be a beneficial thing to do.
I have no sway bar in the rear. Hellwig makes a rear bar for this truck. Again, I wonder if this would be a beneficial installation considering cost to benefit.
Any thoughts??

either you or someone posted the exact same thing in another thread.
to lessen your sway in the rear, either go expensive and put air ride shocks back there, or you can go cheap and get the same effect by putting timbrens in the rear. This will stiffen your ride a bit unloaded but you will get more bang for your buck then just putting a sway bar.

I guess you would have to use the spacer they include in the box in order to see these effects. Mounting them without the spacer does absolutely nothing to the handling of the truck that I could ever feel....

Thanks guys, but I do not haul heavy loads as a rule - in fact, almost never. Not looking to stiffen the ride at all. Just looking for a way to flatten cornering and dealing with the sometimes strong side winds encountered when I drive from Nevada to Dallas.
i didnt use a spacer on my timbrens and they sit about 1/8" off the rear axle. perfect for me until i get my pacbrake air shocks
I don't know how much difference the larger front sway bar will make because it may not have as much torsion strength as the factory, or vise versa. I do think that the rear sway bar will help though, and shouldn't effect the ride either.

Thanks for the input - ordered a Hellwig rear sway bar yesterday. I think I'll put polyurethane bushings on the front bar and end links and call it "project complete".
