Durable Exhaust system

Looks like MBRP is dominating on the market when it comes to exhaust systems. I'm really liking their 5" stainless steel turbo back, but I know that once I start spreading salt again in the winter, pretty much anything under my truck rusts to pieces. On the older rams, the exhaust from the cat back is pretty much non existent and good luck trying to remove my spare. Any suggestions for a turbo back that wont rust on me?

Pretty much any exhaust in the 409 stainless will outlast any of the aluminized units. There is a decent price difference between the two.....just something to think about. I have (kinda...minus the muffler) an MBRP system with an FTE resonator and a 51" Dynaflex muffler, and the fit and finish was spot on. I really like it just not the muffler.....was louder than I wanted....which is why I installed said mufflers. 5yrs and no rust on my aluminized unit, however, I do live in central Texas where road salt is pretty much non-existent.

I'd have to agree with jhenson,
I run MBRP (aluminized steel since I am in Charlotte and we pretty much never get any significant snow...hence, no real salt).
But, my boy up in Vermont runs the MBRP stainless steel and has had it for years with no problem. I know he had his for a couple years prior to me getting mine and gave me the MBRP suggestion based on how well his has held up. Just my $.02

Not to mention...I would put the quality of the sound of my system up to any other brand (including the Donaldsons)

when i bought mine the previous owner had a 5" turbo back stainless steel mangaflow system put on it. it sounded great but it did not like the winters up here in north east PA. It wasnt rusted through any of the materials just surface rust all over. i finally got under the truck about a month ago and cut it all off cuz it looked like Edit. Now i got it coming out the passenger side between the cab and bed and i couldnt be happier.

Not to hijack...I'm contemplating something like that, homebuilt, can you provide further details how you did that? Perhaps pictures? Thanks.

It seems like a few places used to make a 304 stainless exhaust. It was higher but it would offer the most rust resistance.

Oops....now that the above poster mentioned it....I think the stainless systems are 304 stainless and not 409.....409? I must have used too much of that stuff cleaning the stove top !!!!!!

There is 409 and 304. 409 will rust easier than 304.

Been running my MBRP Aluminized up here in MN for 6 years and mine hardly shows any signs of rust. Keep it clean and rust won't have a chance to accumulate.

I hope I did not get this wrong when I ordered MBRP`S cool dual 4" exhaust with 5" tips.I thought I read that 304had a three year war and 409 was lifetime war .the fit around the shock on the drivers side was **** and I had to beat the pipe in so the shock would not hit the pipe.I sent them pictures and got a hat and T shirt back lol.My friend with a 2006 3500 had the same problem with his cool duals.409 cost me $1200.00

That is really cool, thanks for sharing. I didn't even notice that little hump in the frame, I'll have to see if I have it on my LWB and where it falls. I figured I would 45* out right off the pipe, but you had a good solution there with the 90 to 45. Thanks again.
