Had the same drone on my '97 with a 5" system...
Made me put my stacks back on![Smilie](https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
4" straight pipe on my '05, left the kitty intact, no drone at cruise, ONLY slight drone is convertor locking up...
Made me put my stacks back on

It was a 4" downpipe, and 5" all the way back...
Lost some spool time too, felt a little more lag...
That was just my experience with the 5" systems...
Keeping the 4" on my '05 for a while, it flows well enough and sounds decent...
Might help to try a dynomax bullet, or like, straight thru muffler to eliminate some of the drone...
Otherwise, stock up on sound deadner

<- had lead plate from Xray rooms as sound deadner, and no I didnt do it, was on the truck when I bought it, but it actually works pretty well

I get a slight drone right at 1500rpm with my stock 4" exhaust with muffler removed via MEK from Geno's. It is more noticable while towing. Not too bad unloaded.

I have some good droan in my truck 55mph@1500rpms when the truck is going into overdrive. All I have is a 4" straight pipe with everything removed.
Doesn't really bother me unless I'm at 55mph on traffic.
