Thumbs up 6.5" MB Quart components

I made a mounting plate for tweeter and driver from 3/8" plywood, painted and sealed to fit the 6x9 hole. Fastened the crossover to the metal of the door behind the arm rest area with two self tapping stainless screws. Fits great.

Thumbs up

I tried to put some audiobahn 6x9's in the door, they will not fit, made an adapter plate, could not get the door panel back on. Went with focal 6" in door and the tweets went in the dash, a plate for the 6's can be made out of about anything, I used phenolic 3/4"

In the rear I mounted my mids in the doors and used a hole saw to mount the tweeters in the "c" pillar. In the front I used plywood to mount the mids in the door. Tweeters are on the "a" pillars for now. May move them down to the stock dash locations for a bit more stealth mode. Crossovers for both are mounted on the back wall of the cab.

When I run across another bucket of money the sub will go in the passenger rear cubby hole.

I know that I can be pretty stupid at times. (most times?). The title to this thread had me fooled. Now that I have read the replies I figure that the subject is speakers. But what on earth is a "spraker"? Is this some componant of the stereo system? If so, please let me know what it does.

I installed Kenwood KFC-6969ie speakers up front. They are one of the only 6x9 speakers that I could find where the magnet and basket would fit in the opening without modifications. I also took the plastic brackets off the stock 6x9s and transferred them over to the Kenwoods for a little more clearance.

As for component speakers, I would mount the drivers in the doors and put the crossovers and tweeters under the dash panel. There are factory locations under the dash panel where the factory tweeters would go if you had the Infinity speaker option. This dash panel just pops off.

I have read where a few folks have moved their tweets to the dash. I am wondering how they sound. I think it might help the sound overall in the truck. I do have major surgery planned for my next phase of audio on this truck.
Some of it as follows:
-Video screen
-JL 12W7 thru the floor under dirvers side rear seat. I want my fold flat floor back.
-Move the Rockford amp and the JL 300/4 under the front seats.
-Move the cd changer into the lower center storage.
-Install the CB in the area where the lil pocket thing is down by the shifter.
-Fat mat the interior!
-Upgrade the MB Quart to XR JL's

That should do the stereo and then theres the stainless gauge pods, heated wipers, air ride, 19.5 tires/wheels, etc etc
