Yes you must call Bullydog. My buddy had this happen to him when we loaded it in my truck and then loaded it back into his. Same thing, Recovery mode. Bullydog said for some reason it didn't unload correctly out of mine (scary I think). Bullydog said, that this is a common error with the new downloader. The bullydog downloader should have said mismatched vin!!! But it didn't!!!! Unerror in the programming..said the bullydog rep.

But to make a long story short, you have to call Bulldog. They will walk you through what to do. You must be at the truck!! And trust me your truck will start.

I will also add that they Bullydog rep was very professional. I have heard horror stories about their customer service, but this time it was very top notch. Guess I got lucky!

Or you can send me a PM with your phone number and I will have one of my techs call you.

This is not a problem with the downloader. It is a problem with not completing the entire download on the first truck before going to the second truck. You have to follow all of the instructions at the end of the download...all of the key cycles and button presses until the downloader tells you it was successful and resets back to the install download screen. If you do not the programmer thinks there was a problem with the download and goes into recovery mode.

At that point you would still be okay if you realize that it is still in recovery for the first truck and you run the recovery mode all the way through on that truck. When it finishes with the recovery the downloader would be reset and ready to be put on any other truck.

Where people get into trouble is when they run the recovery mode through on the wrong truck. This flashes the information from the first truck (i.e. VIN# and Engine Code) onto the second truck and then it won't start.

how do I fix it to the last part you said. I put a bully dog off another truck on my truck and can’t get the truck to run it sent the tuner into recovery mode and truck won’t crank. How do I fix it to get the other trucks and and engine codes off

Since his last visit here was almost `11 years ago, I wouldn't hold out much hope for a reply.

Have you been to bullydogs website for technical assistance?
