Banks High Ram Air intake

Is anybody using this product. I taked to a rep today who claimed .5 to 1 mpg increase. Also stated It makes the motor more efficient by improving air flow to all 6 cylinders.

thoughts and comments please.

can be seen at www.bankspower.com under the Dodge products link

thanks Jamie

Everyone I have heard from says that it is all show and no go. In other words, that part of the air intake system is not the most constrictive part.

Since I have not tried it, I could be wrong.

Thumbs down Don't bother....

That part of the intake is not the most restrictive. Another GASOLINE engine concept adapted to drain the wallets of diesel owners. Unless you cut the intake manifold off of the head, the "flow" to the cylinders is the same as it enters through the same plenum.

Spend your money on the air going into the turbocharger, that is where the small gains are going to make a difference. Low pressure, high flow is where you can trim corners to make big gains. Once the air is under pressure, the rules change.

I notice that NO ONE used the intake manifold system BANK$ developed either that required sawing the manifold off and bolting on an aluminum manifold... Obviously no benefit as guys running 80 Psi boost at 4000 RPM use the stock manifold...

Use that money for something else.

Then you must not believe in port and polishing somewhat samething here as hole on stock is very small as high ram has a good size on it. Why restrict air from turbo psi will rise.
Myself I believe it all helps in the end for power.

From what I've read it offers a EGT reduction as well as more air flo on HIGH H.P.applications and has been proven on the dyno numerous times.A BIGGER intercooler also offers NOTHING until LOTS more fuel and air and then it works as designed to keep EGTS in check and add cooler incoming air.I believe ATS (I think)also has their version of the high ram also.

Forgot to mention the guy on the phone also stated that it yields 12hp and 30ft/lbs of torque, documented by extensive testing.

unless this is the most restrictive part it won't help. you can only force x amount of volume thru the smallest point (i.e. no matter how big the top of a funnel is, flow must still pass thru the small opening) if this was the most restrictive point after the turbo, then yes it could help.
