I have searched but havent found the answer to my question--

My 600 is way way way too quiet--I want it to sound tougher but I also pull a lot and don't want drone and too much noise. Mostly just for it to sound better from the outside (like a diesel should) but not drastically louder inside )although somewhat louder is fine.) Straightpipe is too loud, looking for muffler/resonator recommendations to make it sound like a CTD ought to!

 

51" nelson or maybe the 48" I think it is. I have the 51" it is straight through. search the threads for that.

 

My Donaldson 34'" sounds great...Deep tone without being too loud.

 

What needs to be done to mate this with the factory 4"? Is this the M085171 muffler?

 

Yes...just cut off the old one as close the muffler as possible and then slip the new one up...couple of band clamps later and you are done.

 

I have ordered a Donaldson 34'' from Truck Pro for $48.00 , can't beat that , will be in Friday .

Yup...just cut it off close, But I re-used a muffler clamp in the front. The band clamps didn't seem to hold as well and the muffler kept turning. Also have to weld hangers on to the muffler.

 

If you want to use the SS band clamps, TorcTite makes a series with a step in it to go from the OD of the exhaust pipe to the OD of the bell on the muffler. They work slicker an snot and tighten down real good.

Did any one have any trouble getting the exhaust system lined back up after putting a straight through muffler on?

 

So I will need to go out and find some? I bought the Donaldson btw.
