Did the shift kit today....

Man VB's have changed since the 70's :-)

This project is not for the fant hearted. It was more involved than I thought it would be, plus there was just something that didn't seem right about pulling the trans apart on a brand new truck with only 2900 miles on it.

End Results,

I've only driven it about 15 miles so far since working on it all day today (took about 7 hours)

Shifts are Firm, but not too firm, I can actually feel the trans go into every gear instead of it sliding in like it used to.

Trans sifts into OD at about 43mph now were before it would have to be about 48mph (I like that alot better).

So far so good, I'll keep you all posted as I put some more miles on it driving it in familiar traffic so I can notice just what's changed with the VB and how the trans shifts.

Thanks to Dusty at HTS for aiding me with helpfull hints so I only had to pull the VB appart once.

 

Where do you get the valve body? Any links?

I drove to work today in a familar routine. Trans shfted great much better and more predictable than stock. So far so good going to give it a week before I give my finall virdict.....

 

I have been talking to my local tranny shop owner,who just happens to have a twin turbo'd 04 cummins dually with an auto laying down 680hp and 1400 tq.He plans to install a shift kit and possibly a lock-up switch in my tranny soon,I'll post my results.
