Shift kit for 48RE

Has anybody put a shift kit in their 03-04 and how do you like it? Does anybody even make one, or do you have to buy a whole exchange valve body? Who has the best prices?

You can get an entire valve body for around $400.00, a good shift kit with all the good stuff is around $250.00

I noticed that Trans-Go lists a shift for the diesel trucks for around $70?, but that's all I know about it.

Most shift kits are fairly easy to do, I had not checked availability on these trucks because all I've ever heard is "valve body". Maybe they're just brainwashing us into thinking we can't do anything but bolt in this or that, and we can't think for ourselves and install a simple shift kit

What one buys with a VB from a trans shop is their experience.
I know for a fact the common kits have you drill in the casting of the VB and I don't like that. It can add to the drain back issue that is common for the Dodge auto.
Unless you KNOW trannies, it is best to buy a VB from a good shop.

I am quite surprised that Trans-go hasn't made some changes.

shift kits

hey guys just be careful with the shift kits and how much they up the line pressure. if you get the pressure to high the govener pressure sensor will set a code and the trans into a limp in mode and you will be taking off in third gear. just installed the dtt stuff in a fellow members truck and this stuff is awsome. it also comes with an module that you fool the pcm with so it doesnt see those higher pressure numbers and set a code. you can also use a resistor inline but you spend more time finding the right one. the dtt module is adjustable . also as j- fox stated you are also paying for there knowledge when you buy a valve body and they do this stuff day in and day out so id say they know there s***. just my 2 cents worth.

Tim Holt, the tranny guy out of the DFW area can hook you up with some supplier named Gordo. He carries the shift kit that Tim uses on our tranny's and I believe it was right at $100. No I don't have his web address. When your on his site that I'm certain someone can supply there is a picture that shows the name of the tranny shop he works at and you can call information and get the tn or maybe someone has it. That guy is very helpful.

I just completed the valve body mods listed above yesterday and so far I am very happy. I probably could have set the line pressure a little higher and I may adjust the throttle valve cable some but that stuff is just personal preference. I didn't do the converter, but I will in the next few months. This stuff may not be equal to the big name places but it is probably more than enough for me.

It shifts much better, thats for sure. I will drive it more in the next week and report back with more opinions.

parts were cheap and it took me and a friend about 5 hours to do it all. Thats being very cautious.
