I think it has more to do with the NOX emmisions than the kitty... becuase if they count on the high EGT's to keep the cat hot what happens 90% of the time, or more, when the EGT's are low? Normal driving my truck wont break 800-900, Smarty Jr, or about 1000 stock... not much difference... but when towing, then you really get into the EGT's, but thats not always... .
