Question 04.5 AFE PG7 Intake System

I had read/heard that there was a problem with the AFE PG7 AirIntake System on the 04.5s. Now Genos Garage is carrying an AFE PG7 that is designed for the 04.5s.

Anyone know what the problem was exactly and what the new filter fixes??

I have the AFEproguard 7 with torque tube and stage II no problems. Except my truck has been in the shop for a week but thats related to a bad injector. I love the air intake my truck's turbo is so loud! i love it!!

I use the AFE PG7 drop in with no problems and no dust on the inside the tourque tube, and it doesn't pull down the filter minder at all. I should do an oil analysis the double check though.

My mistake, I was referring to the intake system, not the drop in. I've edited the original post to reflect this.

Hey Brad!

Good to see yet another DiRT member here. I normally post over in the 2nd gen section, but I read a post here in the 3rd gens today regarding AFE PG7:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=42436

If you don't want to read 14 pages of posts, I think I can sum it up by saying this: 1. PG7 is a good system when combined with the torque tube.
2. The stock filter minder can be misleading as it's calibrated for a paper filter.
3. Make sure the filter is pre-oiled from the factory correctly.
4. And lastly, you should check the intake tubes after the first tank of fuel.

(I run an aFe 6x14" filter for my twins and it supplies enough air)

For some reason I think I remember there being a problem with the AFE Intake system and the hoods of the 04.5's. I can't be sure, but something rings in my brainpan about this. But I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Exactly!! Thanks for the help....now I'll feel a bit safer if I can decide on either this or the Scotty III.
