Another AFE PG7 question
Another AFE PG7 question
I know there has been a lot of discussion about AFE products and I've searched the forum for a clear explanation. A lot of discussions drift off into different areas and I'm finding I'm spending hours sifting through replies.
Question...
Will an AFE drop-in filter in the OEM air box give me the same or similar results vs replacing the air box with an entire AFE air intake?
I don't want anything to stand out when I take my truck in for service that might cause the dealer to void my warranty.
Is the AFE drop-in option worth the $$ or just leave the whole thing stock?
Thanks guys.

I ran the drop in for a while. It did make a difference in "throttle" response. This was NOT a PG7 though. This was before those came out.
answer to your question = no.
all they have to do is remove your box lid and see the other filter anyway. Even though, you should win the battle if you have the filter specifications with you should it come up.
I would stay stock if you have no temp issues and do not plan to upgrade power wise.

i have the drop in pg7. i am happy with it, truck breathes much easier, tubo whistle is louder, and spool up is quicker. it is not alot of money, it will pay for itself over a short period of time.
that being said, the airbox intake is not big enough to feed this thing. i plan to do the dryer vent mod to the box. that is where you cut a 4 inch hole in the bottom of the airbox, and put a dryer vent in it so you can angle it to suck the outside cool air.
if i go for service, i can pop my stock filter back in there, so no questions arise.

Is that true? Where you get a drop in PG7 and not the 5 layer one. PG7 is 7 layer??
