I may get flamed for saying this (flame suit on) but IMO the single most important upgrade to do to your truck would be DELETE THE EMISSIONS JUNK!!! Its imperative to extend the life of your truck. The benefits are: better gas mileage, no dirty turbos, no regens. Again, just my opinion, take it for what its worth~
Given a new truck and told that I could only do one modification, this would be it.
Talk about! I can put 5 gal in my truck and roll for hundreds of miles and not burn an ounce! That five gallons being in the bed of course.
Sorry Bud! Just poking some fun atcha.
Tx is right though, you'd pick up as much as 3.5 to 4 mpg depending on your driving habits. Seen mine go from 15 to 19.
I'll agree with the gauges and deletes also. But, with the deletes comes expense... it's $$$ to take that crap off and fool the computer.
Gauges... Boost, EGT, FP, and trans if you tow.

Get gauges, I have the Edge Insight with pyro. It was the easiest gauge install I've ever done. Everything but the pyro plugs into the OBDII port. Literally a 15 minute install which includes cleaning the dash with alcohol for the dash pod. The pyro took longer, but it was easy with a right angle drill. My brother-in-law helped (re. drank my beer) and it was no problem...

If you're in the US, call Larry, you'll get a better deal. Up here, with taxes (10%), taking the exchange rate into account, etc. it was $604 out the door Canadian (the Insight, pyro and dash mount pod) which is what it would cost me to get it from the US, duty, brokerage fees, wait time etc. so I decided to support the local diesel shop. To get manual gauges it would cost to close to the same, but then I'd only have 3 or 4 gauges, with the Insight I can monitor over 100 different things, change what I monitor on the fly (not a good thing to be doing traffic) and I don't lose my grab handle on the A pillar.
I REALLY like the Edge product. Its professional, looks good. It just took me awhile to figure out how to turn the regen status alarm on. On the screen it says yes/no, but to turn it on you have to enter a value on 0 for off or 1 for on. No where in the manual does it say anything about that and the software does not prompt you for the correct values, it just says error "wrong value".
All in all, a great product, we'll jsut have to see how it works at -40 C.
