Wondering what south bend clutch would be best for my 08. Was looking at the clutch that was on sale. Any suggestions?

 

Not to change the subject, But I talked to my Dodge Dealer, he said there is a Flash upgrade for Clutch Slipping.
He also said the clutch is only under warranty for 24,000 miles.

 

lol, a flash for clutch slippage. not likely at all, BUT if there were one, the only thing they could be doing is cutting the power back. that's the opposite direction of where i want to go!! and the clutch is warrantied for 12 months and/or 12,000 miles. the only real fix (which seems to be the case with many things on these trucks) is to replace the stock junk with a real clutch.

 

Need to know what you use your truck for and what your end goal for power is. I've had the SBC DD 3250# and it has handled all I've thrown at it (35s on Level 9 with the Smarty and towing my 12K lbs cargo trailer).

 

Call up southbend and ask them. They were awsome to deal with when we were having issues with my brothers 12 valve clutch. They will get you going in the right direction

I agree, I don’t understand how a flash will do anything good for this.
I also agree the best fix is to go with one of the aftermarket clutches.
I only posted the above post to let you know what the dealer is saying.

 

i bet you get a different story when you go in to have it serviced. the true warranty on the clutch is 12k/12 months. the guy you talked to is either mistaken (common), or he is being generous and is going to take care of you (uncommon).

 

Unless you plan on massive power from your '08, i think the South Bend clutch that is currently on sale (3250 or 3600 ceramic 12-button dual disc) is a great value and a good match for the 6.7L.

 

I guess the use of my truck would help right? I pull a 32' fifthwheel about 4 times a year. Also pull a 30' gooseneck in the winter time to and fom the duck lease and to and from the deer lease loaded with tractor and four wheeler and equipment. The rest is highway unloaded. I want to eventully get some real power out of this thing. I just dont know where to start. would like to be around 500-600hp but would settle for 400-500
