trans temp

I have a 09 6.7 deleted. My trans oil temp gauge is showing 125 +- at start up and reaches 260 degrees in just a few minutes. The real temp is about 140 after warm up, taken with a temp gun and I can also lay my hand on the pan with no problem. Its getting a bad signal some how. I thought it was the temp switch in the tranny solenoid pack and changed that out with a new one from dodge, no change. The gauge I'm using is a Edge Insight, all other temps etc look normal. Any ideas as to what the problem is ? Thanks for your time

Hmmm. Sounds to me like it might be an issue with your Insight... I've had some weird reading and screen issues with mine that I have before, and have had to update the software and such through Edge. They have been good to work with and resolved my issues each time so far. 260-125 = 135 which is about what the true reading you are finding is. Looks like a calibration issue with the Insight...

edge

Mega: Thats what I was thinking and their trying to tell me they don't think its the Edge but something in my truck. We'll get to the bottom of it sooner or later. I think its the Edge and most likely will have to send it back again for repair. Will post update when ever I get it fixed. Thanks for your in put.

If I remember right there are a couple settings in the Edge that indicates Trans Temp, you must select the right one to get accurate readings. Play around with the setup and find another parameter that indicates Trans Temp.

Rrloren: I think you might be right ! For me its to late, I spent money on trans solenoid-switch pack and I just sent the Edge back in for a upgrade to the CS model. As I recall this trouble started when I had to reset the settings, I guess I'll never know now. I never cold get the thing to work on my computer no matter what or how I installed the software and that's what lead me to turn it in for an upgrade. My impatience cost me. Thanks for your input.

Luckily for me so far, the software flashes and resetting via the internet and Edge solved my previous Insight issues. However, the CS will be a nice upgrade anyway.

I had to upgrade to the CST a couple months ago for other reasons and it is a much better unit, easier to read with a larger screen and graphics, other than the money you will be pleased with it.

new Insight installed

In stalled the new Edge CS insight monitor today and all temps are now reading as they should. This new unit has many more bells and whistles and its much easier to set up.

How was your insight installed originally? The pillar pod? That is how I have mine... If so, did the CS fit in the same? Sounds great to have it working as it should be now.

Mine is mounted on the dash and I needed to buy an insert they sell that adapts the CS then it fits the mount. Pretty sure you will need the adapter for the pod as well.

Yes I used the same pillar pod, small mod to allow cables to plug in.
