Recall?

I just got my truck back from getting the turbo replaced a third time. My dealer told me they got a memo from dodge saying they are going to have a recall on all turbos and particulate filters. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

There wont be a recall unless it is saftey related, probably just a tsb.

What happens if you are towing and your rig quits...I'd call that safety related. From what i've read, there are plenty of potential safety related issues with this new 6.7

I heard there is going to be a recall from CUMMINS about some of the issues they are in the middle of working details. There was a big meeting about this. I do not know a whole lot of info except I heard it from an owner of a DODGE dealership that I was visiting out of state and there was a big meeting about it.

He also said they "CUMMINS" are talking about compensating customers with free oil changes for a certain period of time for the ones having turbo or DPF issues.

Take this info for what it is worth this is what I heard from the owner of the out of state dealership...

Hope this helps... He also said that there would not be any buybacks and that this is a CUMMINS issue not a DODGE issue and that CUMMINS is working it. We will see...

Its my understanding that Dodge purchases the engines from Cummins at a discount ... and the discount is due to Dodge taking on the warranty for the engins.

So, It may be a problem with the Cummins engine, but it is a Dodge problem warranty wise and if there are people looking for buybacks, it HAS TO BE A DODGE PROBLEM, they are the ones warrantying the trucks.

I do know D/C has a problem with the design of the closing clips on the stock air box. I kept wondering what was pitting my comp wheel. We change air filters every 3000 miles regardless. Clogged air filter couldn't be the reason dust and sand were by-passing the filter.
I took a thin film of oil and wiped around the top edge of the filter and put the truck back to work. Next change I found that dirt and dust had stuck to the oil film, and that there was a leak on the left hand side of the outlet, in the corner where there is not a clip. I have checked all 5 of our trucks (03thru06) and found the same problem. The 03 was denied a new turbo under 3/36 program because of severe comp wheel wear(pitting). I made clips to fit that corner and stopped any further damage, as well as showed the problem to our dealer. Maybe they'll do something, besides fuss about aftermarket boxes.

Air box is redesigned on the 6.7L engine. It now kinda hinges on the engine side with two clips near the headlight and fender.

My turbo is blowing oil back into the intake side of the turbo, not bad... Yet. There doesn't seem to be any excessive play either up, down in or out. DPF is regenerating alot, mileage is really suffering 14-15 when it was usually 17.9-19 before. Asked dealer to do updates and they are going to try tomorrow.
