P245a
P245a
just finishing up a 3k road trip, check engine light popped 5 times.. each time for about 3 key cycles.
I'm still not quite home, but I stopped at a dealership & had them check it out, the only stored code I had was P245A, something to do with EGR system.
He said it was something he'd have to order parts for, so I set up an appointment with home dealership.
7100M on the truck, stock except for intake. No performance/effeciency decrease when code pops, just irritating light
anyone else feelin the P245A blues?

I had a P245f a few weeks ago - dealer did a flash for it; the code is for the ash sensor in the DPF. Evidently it was an erroneous code, ergo the flash. Didn't have any affect on mpg or performance that I could tell.
P245 is egr cooler bypass valve. It's prolly sticking. You are right that it will not affect performance, just emissions.
What is an "ash sensor"? There are oxygen sensors, pressure sensors, and temperature sensors.
You're probably right that it was not communicated clearly; I am assuming that he meant the pressure sensors were indicating an ash accumulation in the DPF - at least that is what was written on the RO. It states that a flash was done for it - haven't had it recurr so far. Sorry if it was confusing.

There is a TSB that applies that requires a software update....p0245 is indeed one of the codes that is covered in this bullitin. I've done about a dozen so far.
Had same issue. Sometimes would go a week before seeing the light again. Dealer did the reflash and 20 miles later had the light again. Next time they removed the EGR and cleaned it and the temp sensor , that was nearly 3 weeks ago and haven't seen the light since.
My guess is if the EGR is cruded up the reflash won't fix it , you need to have the soot removed from it , mine was loaded with soot. Hopefully the reflash will prevent anymore soot buildup.

well I got the truck back today & the light came on less than 30 miles later, not sure if its the same code, can't get the display to show me.. sometimes it shows me, sometimes it doesnt...
Dealership said they pulled P245A & P2262, cleaned particulate filter, cleaned EGR system & computer reflash, then sent me on my way
this is so irritating....
I'm getting to the point where I hope it KEEPS messing up so I can lemon law it
