Need help with some mods...

I've got an 07 6.7, had the Turbo replaced after 19k miles and thought now might be a good time to do some upgrades hoping Dodge corrected my Turbo problems.... can anyone recommend the following:

I have been using AMSOIL for all of my fluids. I currently have 143,000 miles and I am just starting to get some higher temperatures than normal. But others on this forum say my temps are normal.

The air intake I am using is a Banks Ram Air with a K&N air filter.
My differential covers are Mag-Hytech. My trans pan is a BD. I choose this over Mag-Hytec because it holds an extra quart of fluid more than MH.

The most important things to me about pans and covers are that they have a drain plug, heat fins, and hold more fluids. Temp sending ports are OK, but I don't use them.

A 31" tire should be no problem. 33's can fit with no problem. 35's with a leveling kit and minor rubbing at full lock and suspension flex.

Thanks Safecracker and Blake.Clark for your responses.... Safecracker what do you attribute to the rising temps in your 6.7?? Radiator flow? Do you have an aftermarket electric fan cause I heard that they do run a bit hotter under load... And your Amsoil applications are synthetic?? I'm guessing yes. I use Amsoil synthetic in my quad and have no issues with it. Blake.Clark do you have a leveling kit in mind that would be better than another?? I think I'll start out with the leveling kit and scrap it if I want to go bigger down the road. What's a good rim size to go with a 33" tire...18...19??

No Prob Woody, glad to help.

For a leveling kit there are a lot of good ones on the market. I would avoid any cheap set up from fleabay or the sorts. A decent kit will run approximately 200-300 bucks. I would look at Rancho, BDS, Top Gun, etc.

Now for the rims, unless your wanting to get away from the stock look and go aftermarket, I would leave them be. The 33's, on 18's will give you the same look, proportion wise, as 35's on 20's. I don't find a very big difference between the stock 17's and aftermarket 18's unless your looking for a different load rating, and or, styling. Also I don't find the stockers to be all that bad looking, but that's just my opinion.

The stock wheels with 33's would be a good idea because the backspacing and offset are right where they are supposed to be.

As for intakes, I would go with an S&B or AFE. I've read and you can search here on the forums to support this but I've read that K&N filters should be avoided on Diesel trucks because they allow too large particles through the filter media, which can cause engine damage.

As for a leveling kit, Im running the Hell Bent Steel 2.5" and it rides perfectly level. The quality of the HBS in my opinion is very good and the price is pretty reasonable too. PS, I bought it off ebay......Not everything on ebay is cheap, as someone above hinted towards Heres one for $80:

      Hope this helps!

Guess I should have worded that different. I'm not anti eBay, most of my audio equipment comes from there.

What I mean was, be careful of the no name cheap stuff ON eBay, I would be leery of it. If you can find what you know to be something of quality on there, by all means jump on it...

I figured blake, just didn't want to steer him away from a good deal. Sometimes our points get messed up in the text.

here is a photo of my 08 3500 with 315/70/17" bfg and stock factory wheel, I have a 2" hell bent steel front leveling kit on the front. Tires are almost 35" and no problems at all. I took the level kit off a couple of weeks ago, and the tires fit in there great and only rub when I crank the wheel all the way. I use the S & B cold air intake kit and it is great.

I still haven't figured out the temp thing. When the ambient air is cold to normal. Gauges are fine. When ambient air is hot, gauges are getting hotter but within specs. I drive a lot and have only starting seeing the gauges go higher. The truck still runs great and no major problems. As for the AMSOIL, it is the diesel synthetic Premium API CJ-4 Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil. I change my oil and filter every 15,000. I also used to do the oil analysis at each check while it was under warranty. The oil was still good to use with no excessive wear showing in the test. I currently have 144,000 miles on the truck.

Getting truck Back to stock factory condition, so I can sell it when the 2010 models hit the streets. Right now I haven't driven it for a month, trying to let time catch up with speedometer 87500 mile in 21 months, I don't know if miles will effect selling price. It shouldn't cus Its a CUMMINS. Best diesel motor I have had. Duramax and Power Stroke just need to give it up !!!!!

Based on info in your signature and region, NADA estimates about a $3,875 hit for excessive miles.
