Need 07 Oil sending unit electrical plug

Well, I should have left well enough alone after workin a midnight but I thought I'd get a quick oil change in before sleeping...Only problem is that when I put my new Fleetguard oil filter on I wanted to tighten it down a hare and didn't notice I had incorporated the oil sending unit wire in between the filter and my oil wrench. Long story short, I ripped the wiring out of the sending unit and the dealer doesn't have any listing on the electrical plug.... Anyone know of a wrecked 6.7 that I could buy the oil sending unit electrical plug from and move on from my embarrassing situation... Thanks!
P.S. I finally got Amsoil synthetic in my truck... but at a price.

Nope, unfortunately...I tried splitting the plug in half ,soldering the wires and then reassembling the plug....yeah right...NFG. A friend gave me a part number from Advanced Auto for a plug and guage but I have a feeling it won't work. I put out an email online for a salvage website to see if I could get the part that way but so far no response. The only other idea is an engine harness but i'm sure that will be pricey. I can't believe there's no listing.

I think that you are going to have to buy a entire used harness from the junk yard (if you can find one) Most places are not going to ruin a entire harness to sell just one plug.

Put up a picture. I'm sure people have some good ideas how to fix or modify maybe.

I'm not sure how the access is to where this plug goes, but it looks pretty destroyed at this point. It appears to be pushed in and then the screw cap keeps it in.

You might try getting rid of all the insulation and such so you have the main terminals exposed. You could then try to see if you can plug in each part of the connection carefully and at least test and see if you can get it working.

If so, you could then try to create your own insulation with some silicone or epoxy, etc. I've fixed many a connection in this way. Example: My power cord to my laptop here needed this recently. I found that a cap to a pen makes for a nice cylinder to go around the wires which I dissected and then filled the cap with epoxy as insulation...

If you can't get the basics working so you can then recreate the plug and insulation then you're stuck with trying to find something off the shelf which maybe somebody here has a good idea now that they've seen it, or go to the salvage yard.

You migh try to research who supplies connectors and such for Dodge as well in order to find a replacement directly from the supplier.

Wink

Rpainter....I think you may be on to something... now that you mention that....The wiring does lead towards the location of the block heater plug but it disappears behind some plastic cowl parts on the P/S of the radiator... I ASSumed it went across the radiator support in some wire loom into the main harness.... When we get all this here snow to melt I'm gonna give it a closer look and then see if it's available.
And as far as creating a plug from form-a-gasket/epoxy etc. mega-engr... the plug itself fits into the oil-sending unit(possibly block-heater element) and the plug helps ground the wires to the inside of the unit while the rubber of the plug creates pressure against the ground wire within same. The ground doesn't attach to any portion of the unit, i.e. tab/eyelet etc. The 2 connectors I could have easily gotten a couple of crimp on round female ends and called it a day but the ground is what put the kibosh to my idea.
Thanks for the insight as to where to go from here.

Me too. Good call. I don't even have one of these here in my part of the country and it just looks like what I've seen. The fact that the poster thinks it is an oil sender because it goes into the block makes this plausible as well without even seeing it.

Good news for ya woody! Let us know.

I've installed a block heater cable on my truck. That is definitely a block heater cable.

You can get a new one from the dealer, Cummins shop, or online from Geno's Garage. Should run you $15-40.
