BTW, currently, only 80% of the fuel sold in the US has to be ULSD. Like previously mentioned the complete change to 100% sales is in 2010.

At work we have a 2,000 gal tank. We just switched to ULSD. It is hard to get. Our 1st delivery came from Denver. The local tank farm is limiting the delivery companies to 1 tanker/day for ULSD so many companies are hauling it in from other places where there is larger quantity's available.

We got a new freightshaker bus (thomas) w/ a MB engine and all the emissions crap. A part time driver who was imformed about ULSD put LSD in . It caused all kinds of havoc with the DPF. It was doing a regen every 200 miles. We ended up sucking the fuel out (55 gal) and refilling with ULSD.

I put 30 gallons of LSD in my 6.7 not thinking about it until I put the nozzle back in the pump and there was the LSD sticker. I did what someone else mentioned...ran it down to half and topped up with ULSD. Never gave me ANY problems. Glad you caught it now and not after a few tanks because from what I hear...it takes about 3-4 tanks to total off the DPF...thats all in a row without any ULSD in between. I think if you where in a pinch to find ULSD, taking on some LSD is fine til you get to the ULSD pumps.

As for dyed off road fuel, a buddy of mine had to use some of that...never got dipped but the tracers in that fuel last and is detected for up to six tanks afterwards.

Have a great Holiday Season Everyone.

Sincerely,

Scotty

it's fine if you did it once. next time before you fuell make sure you don't do it again. i pull a 50 ft gooseneck and made the mistake on pulling a gas station without the ulsd and had to use the lsd. it didn't do anything but it's not recommended in these engines.

When my boss ( brother-in-law ) got his new 06 with 5.9 and has the same ULSD only sticker but ULSD was not available in our area for almost 6 months and the dealer told him to run LSD. 96,000 miles later it was traded in on a new 07 5.9 and never had any probs. We average over 1,000 miles a week and pull a 24ft gooseneck loaded with tools every day and had a 65hp Edge EZ. The only thing I can see on the 6.7 is that it will go into regen like a lot of guys have said. Technically not legal but it was not available at all around here. You will be fine.

2006 5.9l trucks were not required to run ULSD. For that matter, 07 5.9's could probably not use ULSD and get away with it.

ULSD is perfectly fine to run in the 5.9. For peace of mind, some have been running an extra lubricity additives but they are really not necessary. ULSD is now sold (or at least is legally required to be the only alternative available) at 100% of the Canadian and 80% of American fueling stations. Just as the CJ4 oils for the new diesels with DPF's is backward compatible with previous generations of oils, ULSD can be used in any application where LSD is used.

07 5.9's do not require ULSD.... only 2007 Emissions compliant vehicles do... this means 6.7L, 6.4L 'strokes and 6.6L LMM 'maxes.
