How screwed am I?

Well hello there!
I did it. I upgraded from '98 quadcab with a 318 to a "07.5 megacab with the 6.7 3 weeks ago and LOVE it. This is my first diesel, so I guess that would make me a noob.
I have been reading all the great info on this sight and have learned alot. I also have alot of questions. So here it goes.

On a small road trip today and I saw diesel for $3.15 a gallon.I have been paying $3.30 to $3.50. I was at a 1/4 tank so I thought cool I will fill up here. After filling up I noticed a small sticker that read, (don't quote me on this) LOW SULFER FUEL, FED LAW PROHIBITS USE IN '07 OR NEWER VEHICLES. If that wasn't enough, bellow that was. USE OF THIS FUEL MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO ENGINE AND/OR OTHER PARTS. I DO know I'm suposed ULTRA LOW sulfer, but I didn't see the sticker till I was done SO, HOW SCREWED AM I?

I would think that all gas stations by now would have ulsd. Maybe the sticker just hasn't been changed? I would think you would be fine.

An old sticker. Illegal for them to sell you fuel that would damage your engine or screw with the emissions stuff on it.

You're OK, not to worry. Just enjoy your nice new diesel. All is good.

Now if you had filled with gasoline instead of diesel, you would have been screwed if you tried to run it.

Have A Merry Christmas.

i only run Low sulfer if i can over ultra low the only diff is with a newer truck it will go into regen quicker but in trucks that dont have the regen like my 06 the low sulfer is far better due to its ablilty to lube seals and pumps you will be fine man like i said might go into regen a bit sooner but no big deal

LSD is not illegal to sell. It is still desired by most that aren't "required" to run the ULSD. If that were the case, why would a fuel station allow someone in a diesel pickup to pump gas in their truck? The station cannot be held liable for a consumers lack of knowledge or sense. ( I'm not badgering the original poster, just stating facts ) Lots of stations around here still have the LSD for sale. I have them marked on my map! The ULSD makes my truck a touch louder, and I know it has less lubricity than the LSD as well. That and I like the smell of the LSD!

I talked to a tanker yanker that delivers fuel to mapcos in the middle tennessee area and he told me as far as mapco goes if the sticker says LSD that's what it has and they have yet to convert over to ULSD. Some may have forgotten to change the sticker to ULSD but I would take the sticker at face value next time pay attention and don't put LSD in your 6.7 truck. Probably won't hurt just this once. Some have run it when there was nothing else to be had but I wouldn't make a habit of it that DPF won't like it and they are expensive to replace. Warranties don't cover negligence...

I know around here "farm Fuel" and other marked diesel is still LSD and so gets burnt in a lot of pickups and has been causing major havoc with 6.7's

That is trucks being run on it constantly though, hopefully you are ok with only one tank.

not sure what one tank will do to it. drain it or top it off with ulsd. there are a few stations near me that still carry lsd, saves me 4-6 cents a gallon using lsd vs. ulsd depending on the day.

I have had to run a few tanks of LSD. We use a Com Card and I have been in a bind and had to find a place that took the card but didn't have ULSD. So far (KNOCK ON WOOD) no problems. Same price for both down here. You should be alright.

When you get down to 1/2 a tank, fill up with ULSD. That will at least dillute it down. My neighbor has a 6.7, ran into the same issue, he has had no problem but did fill it up with ULSD at 1/2 tank to dillute.

Label reading isn't just for food anymore.

If you Google ULSD, you'll find a lot of informative material about ULSD vs. LSD. According to federal regs., distributors/retailers in the United States (outside of those in CA.) do not have to be 100% converted to ULSD until 12/01/2010.

From what I've read and heard, we're probably okay with random usage of LSD. Like others have said, the DPF will likely go into regen more frequently. It would probably be best if you could "work" the truck while you're burning through this fuel. And it would be advantageous to "dilute" it with ULSD...topping off the tank frequently rather than running it low before re-filling.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!
