Can you have the dealer set the high idle option on manual trans? I was told today they can only do it on auto trans. I bought the new 6.7l with the manual. picking it up on weds.thanks.

 

You usually need a clutch switch and a little wiring.

Do a search by my name and PJ, looking for the subject of high idle and manual. He's posted a VERY useful article about wiring it and having it enabled. I'd search, but it's getting late & 2 beers are taking effect !

My 07" 6.7, G56 had the high idle enabled when I bought it - it seemed to kick in when the outside temp was around freezing. The idle would be around 1000-1100 RPM.

 

That's the cold idle....standard on all DC Cummins trucks!

The hi idle we're talking about is user controlled from 1100-1500. Useful for long idle times, Heat in the winter, AC in the summer, and cooling down the turbo!
