Here you guys go, Sterling to offer Dodge Ram
It was an automotive insider journal and the source they quoted was Sterling! I called a guy at sterling and said it was talks in the beginning but as it stands now they are going to keep the DC platform and see how things work.
Mercedes does have an engine that will fit. It is just more cost effective for them to rebadge a dodge and sell those. Then if the market demands change they can build what they want on a different platform.
the 4500/5000 have Dana 80's
Not sure of gearing choices but its like 4.88 or 5.13.
they are speed limited to 75mph (until the aftermarket guys get one of course).
Gearing is 4.10, 4.44 or something close, and 4.88.
I don't drive over 75mph so the speed limiter doesn't bother me one bit.
Some Ford dealers sell Sterling, but Sterling has nothing to do with Ford anymore. Freightliner bought Fords heavy truck division back in the late 90's and named it Sterling. Freightliner is owned by DaimlerChrysler, that is the connection.
