That stuff you posted couldn't have been directly from Sterling. Look how it is writen, it is all speculative info, talking about Sterling, not Sterling talking about themselves.

It was an automotive insider journal and the source they quoted was Sterling! I called a guy at sterling and said it was talks in the beginning but as it stands now they are going to keep the DC platform and see how things work.

Mercedes does have an engine that will fit. It is just more cost effective for them to rebadge a dodge and sell those. Then if the market demands change they can build what they want on a different platform.

So are they doing anything different to the axles or suspension? Or are they just changing the grill, logos and different hubs for the 19.5s?

Yeah, it fits, but you have to remove the cab to change cyl5 and 6 injectors.

the 4500/5000 have Dana 80's

Not sure of gearing choices but its like 4.88 or 5.13.

they are speed limited to 75mph (until the aftermarket guys get one of course).

The rears are bigger than Dana 80's.

Gearing is 4.10, 4.44 or something close, and 4.88.

I don't drive over 75mph so the speed limiter doesn't bother me one bit.

Some Ford dealers sell Sterling, but Sterling has nothing to do with Ford anymore. Freightliner bought Fords heavy truck division back in the late 90's and named it Sterling. Freightliner is owned by DaimlerChrysler, that is the connection.

FERD sold them in like '95 or '97! So DC owns big trucks! Sterling, Freightliner and Western Star
