Here you guys go, Sterling to offer Dodge Ram
This thread made me start to wonder why since DC owns Detroit Diesel and DD makes the MBE900 motor why then doesn't Dodge have these in them instead of the Cummins. Does any one know? It would only seem logical to me to use a engine that is produces by some part of the same company rather than go out side.
I think this stuff is so funny!! They originally were owned by Ford and they made the heavy trucks then later sold to Freightliner which is owned by DaimlerChrysler!
Way back in the '50s they were owned by White motor which later became volvo truck that Gm owns.
So go ahead and buy what you want everybody owns everybody anyway!!!

Also, its easier to beat up Cummins for cost reductions/quality rather than try to get Mercedes to own up to anything (the Germans don't make mistakes you know).
No, no it wasn't. To be pre-production means they are actually gonna produce it, which they are not! Dodge is sticking with Cummins for 2500-5500 trucks and Cummins is going to build them some smaller V engines for the 1500 in another year and a half.
ok well I am sorry I spoke incorrectly! It was automotive buzz prior to formal release! Here is what I read back in February and the source is Sterling!!
"Got eight tons of stuff to haul? Sterling Truck Corporation is taking a shot at it with its new Bullet-class 4/5 truck. The new mid-range worker looks to be based off the Dodge Ram chassis cab that recently debuted. Sterling is part of Freightliner, which is part of DCX, and if you look through the smoke in the teaser pic, it's pretty clear you're looking at a Ram-derived vehicle. Powering the Bullet will be the Mercedes diesels familiar to Sterling customers, driving either the rear wheels, or optionally, both axles. Regular and quad-cab configurations are available for hauling your entire crew, as well. This would make a nice command post for Autobloggers as we criss-cross the country to bring you the latest news. Look for the debut at the NTEA show on March 6th."

Well it wasnt a magizine! it was a sterling source. I know the V engines are fact! They have been talking of them for a long time and now going to production. Several others are testing and have been testing there own V configuration engines.
