Here's my perspective on seatbelts - literally

@ 40 MPH, short distance from home...

Its like brushing your teeth... You hit a point where you are uncomfortable if you don't do it. Wear your seatbelt enough and the discomfort goes away.

I don't like to lecture, but after my wife and I walked away from this one I feel compelled to inform. We would have died if it were not for our seatbelts.

Glad you are okay!

I always wear a belt except when I am getting am getting in and out of my truck at the boat launch ramp. Most annoying to have that dinging away on the opening day of Salmon season etc. when you are hurriedly trying to stay out of everyone's way so I say thanks for the procedure. Most helpful.

My dinger is now disabled! I was going to do this months ago and forgot about it. I drive with a seatbelt on all the time except the few times around the boat ramp, etc. $94 ticket around here if you get caught without a belt...I did once and it hurt my wallet bad.

Thanks Kurt.

FWIW I'd agree about the annoying dinger (I will most likely turn it off, and I should have said that).
...just that not wearing a seatbelt on "short trips" hits home with me. I'd like anyone else who may wreck they truck to be able to walk away too.

I'd like to have the dinger disabled...not so that I can drive w/o the belt...I wear the belt all the time while on the road and require that my passengers do the same. I'd like to have it disabled so that I can plow mine and my parent's driveways w/o the belt on and the bell ringing. Last night I followed the disable directions in the parking lot before I left work. The dinger stayed off...had the truck up to 30 mph or so before getting to the main road...hit the road and drove home (w/belt attached)...truck shut off/restarted at the house...drove the 500 yards to my parents...no dinger. I thought all right, this is finally going to work like I want it to. Started the truck several hours later and drove back home...dinger is back on. What's up with that? Any ideas as to what I need to do to make this re-program stick?

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always use my seat belt but I don`t need it or want to put it on running around the farm. I used to just buckle it underneath me but I don`t like sitting on it. THANK YOU

If you disable the seatbelt dinger does the dinger still work for leaving the headlights on?

I just ran couple strands from a copper wire into both sides of the connector under the seat to "jumper" it. A piece of e-tape around it and no more light or noise. Headlamp and key reminders still work. Now I can wear it when I want with out aggravation, farm gates Etc..

I hot-wired my dinger too - tried several times to use the procedure in the owner's manual, but it never took.
