Exclamation First CEL @ 15k miles

Well, my check engine light came on for the first time. I have AE flash I believe and tried to get AU flash done 2 weeks ago, but instead they game me a tranny tsb for low line pressure. Now 4000 miles later my first cel came on. I tried code reading myself but all i get is straight bars, then a done. I do have parking brake set too which didnt help pull code. My first oil change was at 5000 miles, gonna do my 2nd oil change once my filters come in from gino's garage. I will be doing first fuel filter also. My oil message came on 1300miles ago.

I also noticed that sometimes when i start truck when on long hauls, it will vibrate really bad. Also sometimes when going thru minor hilly areas haullin 22,000 pounds, i will lose almost full power for 10-15 seconds, (happened twice now) and drop 20 mph and think im breaking down, then it recoupes and its back to normal leaving me scared crapless.

I cannot figure out this code key cycle so im about to go to auto parts store to get a code reader. I checked my oil and it looks overfilled. First oil change was done by 5 star dodge. Now the rest im doing myself. i got ginos premium package for 91 bucks. 4 premium oil filters and 2 premium fuel filters.

Any clues before i head to dealership. I have been putting a little LSD past couple weeks but i been 99 percent better last trip and now its straight ULSD. Also now that I got my new aux tank, all stuff LSD has been ran out. Thanks again for any input????!!!!!

On my truck, I can only get it to show the code the first time so if I don't stop the key in the "on" position on the 3rd cycle, I loose the code and it will never show again. Does the parking brake affect this?

Are you only changing your oil every 10,000 miles? I got the lifetime oil changes and the dealer changes it every 3000 miles. It's a pain to take it in once a month for the oil changes.

Definately better to run only ULSD in my experience, just to protect the DPF.

My oil looks overfilled also, anyone know why?

At first I was told these new engines have a oil change duration of every 15k miles, i guess instructions say every 7500. I do it when i get around to it, but probably roughly every 10k i will do it. I guess the reason im not getting codes anymore is cause at first I was looking at overhead, not odo. Im not sure about parking brake, I just read that on 1 thread. So i tried, but odo still had bars without parking brake!!!!

I believe I read that DC is addressing the "overfill" condition showing on the dipstick but don't know what the final word is. Whenever I get my oil changed by the dealer and they put the correct amount in, it always looks overfull when I check it, up almost to the end of the high side on the level tag, no matter how long it sits. Should wait at least 1/2 hour to get correct reading.
Codes show up on the odo after 3 quick on & off's with the key - not starting the engine. Doors closed, don't know if parking brake will affect getting the codes. Bars = NO codes. If no codes, then there is nothing "active" Some codes remain even if they are not active. I think it's 5 good starts and most dissappear. CEL will go out too if everything is OK after 5 good starts.
LSD = BIG NO-NO. Will clog very quickly and possibly cause permanent damage to DPF & other fuel system components. The EGR valve will be feeding 550 ppm sulpher back into the intake vs. 15 ppm which it's designed for. Can't be good. Never have experienced the loss of power that you describe - fuel filter clogged?? Since you have used LSD?? I change out the air & fuel filters when I change the oil.
I do 10k mile OCI despite what the overhead says. If I went with the 7,500k mile OCI I would be changing it every week when I'm busy.
68k on the clock.

Yeah, I think I know why... I did an oil analysis on my factory oil at 3500 miles (it was reading overfull). Lab report indicated excess fuel in oil (5.5%). I took it to the dealer and they dismissed it as sitting on lot and short trips. I'll do another analysis after next 3500 miles, but I expect it to show excess fuel again (oil is overfull after dealer change at 4700 miles). I suspect the "extra" injector pulses are making their way into the crankcase...

I read in another forum thats exactly what it is and DC knows and they are working on a fix too!!!!!

Im keeping my intervals at 10k too. CEL will probably go off then in a few more starts!!! So I take it then auto parts scan tool wont read it then.

Dealer should be able to though????? Maybe I finally get my AU flash?? haha, I would like to know at least what code made it go off, Guess I should wait though till my filters come in!!!!! and change em out first

NEVER use LSD - it will wreck your DPF

I only put about 10 quarts in when I change the oil and then I get proper readings

Yes, I thought of that, but are you getting "correct" readings on an incorrect dipstick?? I thought that I had read that the problem "may" be the dipstick, not the level of oil.
