Electronic throttle control deleteable?
Electronic throttle control deleteable?
Hey guys, I have the smarty and am getting ready to do the deletes, but today my ETC light came on, is this something the delete will take care of? or something i need to take in and get fixed first? OR can i fix it? what are the normal causes?
So strange. Lady had it when the light came on. She drove it to work then target. At target she called stating it wouldn't start. Her dad went out to jump it but he didn't even have his all clamped up and it started fine. Lights went out. On the way home I guess the light came back on with 12v charge. When I arrived I checked all connections. Everythibg was tight. Started the truck fine with a full charge. Lights went out. No problems sense........ any idea?

Remember once when I was driving on I-10 at 70+, heard a loud bang, and swore a rod had knocked a window in the block. That is how hard it hit. Throttle valve "lightning bolt" came on and it went to running rough, real rough.
Pulled over, checked under the hood, nothing out of the ordinary. Went to start, no start. Cycled key a few times, long crank session, then it fired off.
Normal operation from there on out.
No explanation for it. I'm guessing the TV had shut and maybe it backfired through the intake. To this day I'm still dont know what it was.
Only time I've seen that light was pre-delete/Smarty as well. I am sooo glad that I deleted so early on odometer wise... Glad there are smart and knowledgeable people on here to help out with such things and help prevent problems along with solving them.
