Electronic Throttle Control

I had the electronic throttle control come on tonight.

I started the truck and then kicked it into high idle about 1100 rpm. The lights were going up and down in intensity.

Then we took off and the light stayed on. Truck ran fine. I drove it about 8 miles, stopped and shut the truck off, turned it back on and it was OK.

Anyone had this happen? 600 miles on truck.

Thoughts?

Sounds normal. Lights dimming is simply the grid heaters cycling on & off.

This morning, I noticed my fan (for the heater) oscillating up and down and the volt meter moving up and down. I assume this is the grid heaters too, but this was after having started it once, drove 5 miles, stopped, then restarted... I didn't notice anything the first time I started it.

That's the answer to your question as well Mega-engr.

I've heard that using brake and go pedal at the same time will cause the ETC light. It eventually resets. Perhaps this was what happened.

As stated, lights and blowers are normal during grid heater operation.

Mine does that alot. I have found that if I use the go pedal to idle up to about 1,000k r.pm.s THEN hit the CC button for high idle it will usually prevent the lightening bolt. When I would just use the CC button to kick it up, the beast would rev up past 1,100k r.p.m.s and then sort of hiccup back to to 1,100k. It was when it did the hiccup that the lightening bolt would come on.
