Hey, wouldn't the EGT's go nutso when the truck is using extra fuel to clean the DPF?

When cruising along on fairly level ground I am seeing about 850 post turbo (probe is mounted in the elbow right after the turbo). Occasionally I will see 1050 plus for a few minutes. I "assume" the DPF is being regenerated during this time. But have no way of independently verifying that it is.

FWIW I was concerned about my mud flaps, but they are still in good shape at 8500 miles.

Wow - 850 post turbo? That's quite a bit higher than my 4.5 post turbo. I usually run about 500-600, measuring with a post-turbo pyrometer.

Yes post turbo!

The probe on the 01 in my signature is pre turbo and runs closer to 650 / 700.

Wow - I guess I didn't realize they ran that much hotter. Learn something new every day. I guess in the grand scheme of things it's only 200 - 250 degrees...

At times I will run empty at 60-65 mph and see 950+ post turbo then maybe 10 minutes later it will read 510 and will cool to 400 at a red light.

I have mine installed pre-turbo and generally see 900 at 60-65 mph and around 1200-1300 during a regen. After 10 minutes or so it will drop back to 900.

How did your pre turbo install go?

On the 2007 I wanted to install the EGT probe preturbo but didn't want to drill unless I could remove the turbo before drilling.

After looking it over decided I didn't want to remove the turbo.

It went pretty well. I took a long time and drilled carefully with a well-greased bit. I have had it installed for several months and it seems to be working fine.

Will be installing a pyro on my Dads 6.7L this coming weekend. Decided on pre turbo and will use the old plug the exhaust pipe and drill with the engine running trick.
