DPF cleaning

My truck went into regen last week for the first time (I think). It went from 90% full down to 70%. The dealer says I need a new filter...for a mere $2000 plus labor! Sheesh. The truck has 220k so I guess it must be time. There's a clip on youtube of a guy washing his out with a power washer. Does that work? Anyone had theirs cleaned by a shop? There's a place in Denton, Tx that I found on line tonight. Thought I'd call them tomorrow and see what they charge. Maybe someone knows of a good place closer to me. I'm in central Texas, just outside Killeen/Ft. Hood. Thanks....btw, I have a 4yr unlimited milage warranty so I need to stay stock for now.

I was talking with a friend of mine last weekend, he had similar problem with his Ferd. He soaked it for a few days with a some carbon dissolving solution, then pressure washed it out. He then took a torch and heated the outside REAL HOT and said almost 2-gallons of water came out afterwards. He did this twice, second time he said the water was real clean. He thought the secret was heating the outside and getting the water out and other crud.

He has driven the truck about 20-thousand miles so far and all is good.

If the power washer trick doesn't work get a crow bar and knock a hole through the center of it- that should do it, got nothing to lose. Not sure if that throws any codes but let us know. At least it'll look stock on the outside.

Code city incoming.....

There are pressure sensors that work with the DPF to measure flow through it. It will toss codes if you knock it out and dont have a programmer to rectify the situation.

Have a friend with a D-Max who had a EGR failure over time and stopped up the dpf filter. The dealer removed it and soaked it for 7 days. The filter never cleaned up. Ended up replacing the filter and the EGR valve for $ 2600.00.

When the 2007.5 6.7 came out, there was some discussion on this subject on this forum. If I remember some guesses were $ >2,000.00. I guess it was a good guess.

Glad I bought an 06.

A few months ago some guy got caught stealing DPF's from new trucks on a dealers lot, he had been doing it for some time on dealers around the city but had never been caught. Dealer wants $4000 per.
