EGR unplug and the cold- any issues?
Having read about some of the rough idle on EGR unplugs in the cold has anyone from Alaska or other cold weather area had any issues. Looking for whether or not I should unplug given my current location in Alaska. I would like the extra MPG, but concerned about the cold weather impacts.
The only problem I see you having is start up warm up time. It is taking a little longer to warm up with the unplug but I think that is a give in. Just have your high idle enabled and use your exaust brake and give it a shot. What year is your truck?
It was minus 14C here two nights ago. I cycled the grids once and started it up...no issues here. The truck kicked up its own fast idle to 1000 rpm before I had a chance to set it with the cruise so I just turned on the brake and let it do its thing for a few minutes. I doubt it will present an issue or problem in the cold that is worse then how it gobbled the fuel with it hooked up.
My truck is the 2007 model. I just had the G30 recall completed and should have the flash that was concurrent with that. I think it as AX. Just want to figure out how to make it work. Any recommendations on a tuner setup to clear the codes. Don't want to have the CEL on alll the time.
