How to unplug the EGR?

My dad just got an 08 and I have just started looking into upgrading it and it seems like unplugging the EGR has helped mileage a bit. I have an 05 so I don't know anything about these new ones. So what does it take to unplug the EGR and what benefits are there?

Thanks Kris

Oh my gosh, you may want to do a search first on the subject. EGR deletes have been covered "adnausium" in these forums. You can read for days!
