Code P245A

Just a little over 2000 miles now (and gotta say I really like these new trucks), and now the check engine light is on. Found out these trucks are much like the 2nd Gen where you can cycle the key 3 times and read trouble codes. The code I have is P245A. Took it to the dealer and they said as long as the light isn't flashing it is safe to drive. Can't get me in for another week to diagnose the problem. Anyone else have this particular problem, and should I go with what the service department said and continue to drive, or find another dealer.

This is the code.........

Theory of Operation
The EGR Cooler bypass valve is used to bypass the EGR cooler when the engine is in an active regeneration mode. This is to prevent EGR cooler fouling. There are two portions to this diagnostic. At key on the ECM drives the control line low and then high and monitors the correct status response. Throughout engine operation looks for status response voltage to be within 5-8 volts. The EGR Cooler Bypass valve will send a signal between 1.0 and 1.7 volts. When this occurs the ECM logs a fault. The second portion of this diagnostic monitors Exhaust Gas Recirculation temperature. If the EGR Cooler Bypass valve was in bypass mode incorrectly, the exhaust gas recirculation temperatures would exceed a temperature limit; this condition will also trigger the fault. The ECM will light a MIL lamp immediately after this diagnostic runs and fails. The ECM will turn off the MIL lamp after the diagnostic passes in four consecutive drive cycles.

When Monitored:
Key on

Set Condition:
Voltage detected at status line is between 1.0 volt and 1.7 volts for more than 150 seconds consecutively.

Possible Causes
(F348) SMART POWER RELAY COIL FEED SHORTED TO BATTERY
(F348) SMART POWER RELAY COIL FEED OPEN CIRCUIT
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION TEMPERATURE SENSOR ERRORS
COOLANT SYSTEM
EGR COOLER
(K671) STATUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(K671) STATUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO 5-VOLT SOURCE
ACTUATOR FAILURE

Finally got an answer to my problem - EGR valve stuck open. I wanted them to just replace the EGR valve but the dealer told me today that before they can do the replacement they have to get an EGR kit and clean the EGR pipe/system. They're telling me that this procedure will take approx. 4-5 hrs. and must be completed before Star will allow replacement of the EGR valve.
32k on the clock with very little idling or city driving.
Sounds like the EGR mainfold cleaning that some of my Ferd diesel brothers had to deal with on the 6.ohno.

Mine had exact same code. Dealer had me in to do the re-flash , it's been 4 days and no lights yet , but I've gone a week and a half without lights too.
Dealer said the flash will fix the problem , we'll see.

No, flash has not helped fix mine. Took to the dealer last week and they said to wait until later this week for a new flash. The new flash is supposed to fix this specific problem only.
