Both 08 6.7's DOA

bad news.
both of my 08 6.7's are DOA.

the quad cab is on its third visit for what they THINK is a
bad fuel injector and my mega cab won't start after coming
home from work tonight. i checked the code on it and 2262 came up.
a new turbo is probably in my future.

truly disheartening. the quad cab has 26k on it and the mega cab
only 8800 miles.

these are my first Dodges. when they run they run great..... but when they
don't......well...it sucks!

for some history on my mega cab.....my engine light has been an almost constant companion since purchase. not so for the quad cab.

if the quad cab has to go back again it will probably be lemon time.
as for mine I'm pondering what options are out there.

What are the odds of getting two lemons? Good luck finding something that works. I hope your dealer can fix you up.

Man, what bad luck. One expects more out of 35-40 thousand dollar trucks. Hope your luck changes.

Man! That stinks. I love these CTDs but every one I've had has had some issue that could not be resolved and finally disgusted me enough to trade it in for a new one. This truck is the best by far but it's still new and I can honestly say that if I start having major issues like this then I probably won't have another. As was already said, too much money to be having to deal with these problems...
Good Luck

I hate to say it, but it might be as much your dealer as the truck.

That's true too. I had an issue with my 03 once and the dealer told me outright that he did not have a good diesel tech......

Very true, I am thankful when a dealer is honest. My home town Service writer said the same thing. I now drive about 40 miles but to an excellent dealer with lots of Diesel techs,.

P2262 would not keep the engine from starting.

Incredible odds that you would have 2 that just happen to have fuel system issues.

Something else is going on here.

a bit of an update.

the quad cab is back on the road. they changed out one of the fuel injectors. the crappy part is they said they changed the injector on the second visit. it now seems they swapped #1 and #2 injectors on the second visit to be sure it was an injector issue. I'm crossing my fingers that the issue is solved.

as for my mega cab. it is still at the dealer. i can't explain how odd it was watching my truck being carried out of my driveway on a roll back yesterday. i had washed it while it sat in the driveway before they picked it up. it looked like a brand new truck on its way to a dealership. after years and years of trouble free (gasoline)GMC's this experience has been a big disappointment.

as for any problems resulting from bad fuel....it's highly unlikely. both trucks fuel out of the same tank at work. we purchase and deliver the fuel to this tank ourselves. i double checked today to make sure our fuel truck is picking up ultra low sulfur fuel. all of our over the road tri axles use the same pump as well. these issues seem to be a matter of luck(all bad!) and possibly signs of things to come for 08 6.7's.

I'll post tomorrow what the end result is for the mega cab......that's if it is repaired

What's the build date on your Mega Cab? It's unlikely but I have seen some that didn't have the flash loaded right so you may want to chech that. Did you use the EB ever in your Mega Cab? If you remember it's better to use it over half the time you run the truck. I have yet to see a truck that will not start because of a code 2262..... does your dealer even know yet why it won't start?

Your other one that they swapped injectors on, is the truck stock? And is this the second time it's been in and just had the injectors swapped?

i don't know the build date. where would i find that? i use my EB quite a bit.
i'm so disgusted with the whole situation that i didn't even call my dealer yesterday. i'll call them today to see what the status is. is it possible to load a flash improperly?

both trucks are completely stock. hopefully this will be just a one time
occurence

Test your fuel at work. The tri-axles may not be as finicky on fuel quality as the common rail. You are better off finding out now if there is a fuel problem.

we're taking a sample this afternoon to be sure our fuel truck driver
did not intermingle the on road and off road fuels. the dealership tested
our fuel in the trucks and they were satisfied with the results.

the dealership told me today that my number 1 fuel injector is also bad.
they hope to have a new injector installed this afternoon.
same exact issue as the quad cab. the odds that both trucks, the same age, with different mileages fail within 10 days of each other
leads me to believe that we had some type of fuel contamination. that
or just shitty luck.

my truck should be ready this afternoon. I'll keep you guys posted when i
receive the service report.

thanks again.
