air intake baffle leave it in or take it out

I notice a big contraption in my intake before the turbo. It looked like it could be a little restrictive. It comes out easily, just don't know if it is worth removing or just leave it in. If anybody has tried let me know. This is also my first post.

I took mine out and the only thing that changed was the whistle from the turbo got louder and thats about it. As far as negative side effects none so far so go ahead and yank that thing out.

Welcome to the forum im kinda new too.

I'm not a tech, but I think I heard that the baffle is designed to channel the air into the turbo more efficiently than just a straight connection. I haven't tried to remove mine but have heard from some who replaced it after removing it. Definitely get more whistle from the turbo, but is the turbo operating at it's best without the baffle?? Only those who have removed them will know.

The people I've talked to that did so on the 5.9 an saw no improvement of any kind just more noise. I read some place that its harder to take it off the new 6.7 as its riveted in IIRC.

I think they are talking about the big plastic hootamus in the intake before the turbo on 6.7 not the silencer ring. I have afe stage II so mine is gone.

Ok, Sorry I had the silencer ring on the brain and not the plastic thing before the turbo.

I have removed mine about a 1K ago. I have not notice a mileage improvement as of yet. I track every fill up and write down miles, amount of fuel and price. Then I also have the avg miles per gallon for that fill-up. My biggest improvement came from un-plugging the EGR 1.5 MPG to 2 MPG with winter fuel.
Sound level is up and I have notice a whistling from the Turbo with the baffle removed. I believe the baffle is more for noise control and the bent flap at the bottom is to direct air in to the turbo with the baffle in place.
