My 03 HO cummins has a apx. 10inch plastic tube between the filter box hose and the turbo hose. Inside is a baffle in the shape of a cross and it reduces the inside diamater by about 20-30 percent. Does this help the air flow smoother or is it a noise reducer? Will my truck run better and get more air without it or will taking it out make the airflow more inefficient? I've already got my eyes on some PVC to replace it....

 

I'd take it out. Couldn't hurt nothing.

 

I removed mine and pulled the turbo ring also. The only difference I noticed was the turbo sound and thats why I did it.

 

i replaced it with a pice of s.s. tube looks cool but it didnt make any difference in performance.

 

I made my own replacement tube out of .063 aluminum.<br> if you have access to or know some in sheet metal fabrication, the stock cut to dims are .063x 5.25&quot;x 17.25&quot;<br>roll it until you have about a inch overlap and rivit that puppy together!
