Question 6.7 and Veggie Oil???

Yes, new thread!!

Sorry if i didnt make myself clear in last thread cause im still learning the difference between fuels.

Again, i hotshot 2500 miles weekly with avg 18-24,000 pounds.
Diesel is way to expensive and cost is on the rise and not going back down. i could care less about the B fuels cause you get worse mpg and its the same price. So i guess that leaves veggie oil only.

Someone correct me if im wrong.

Questions are has anyone ran/convereted there 6.7 to do this?
Are there any conversions out there yet??? links please
Do you get better mpg???
Is this possible with towing heavy daily for a livelyhood???
To the people who do there math, I can save $50,000 a year with prices at 3.00 a gallon.

Thanks for any input that actually anwsers or helps my questions.

I would have to guess technicly it would not be legal,it is not the required ultra low sulpher diesel nor would you be paying road tax on it.

Think of it this way, you put Veggie oil in and 18K worth of repairs later ( out of your pocket ) you are back on the road, just how expensive was that ULSD?

Not trying to be a smart alec, but as touchy as these things are to even a load of water, why would you consider Veggie?

Do a search on here and see how many Common Rails have been taken out by water.

Im not doing anything till i seen/heard of other trucks doing this. Also a big problems with veggie oil is not filtered right. But again, im not gonna be a guinne pig and as i see its way to early for people to even try out veggie oil in these new engines and its pointless to do b100 cause its the same price and that stuff isnt even perfect yet. Guess for now im sticking with ulsd. To bad i couldnt find any old 7.3's out there with low mileage but those things are dawgs pullling 20,000 pounds.

Just sold my 7.3 with 80,000 miles was 01 havent seen any with less miles with that. I would have but more on it but it was always in the shop getting fixed. Not ford problem you could say a driver problem, making it always break, but it was awsome but night/day diff between it pulling and my 6.7

I bet!!! I just sold my 6.0 and that is like night and day also with my 6.7. My 6.0 had 59k miles on here and sold it for 27k. It was an 04 lariet fx4.

Tell you what, pulling 7k felt like a little dawgy and pulling 7k with my 6.7 feels like nuttin behind her.

I'd be real leary about using veggie in a 6.7. I've run B100 in my '98 regularly but the price is $2.79 and the mileage drops about 2 mpg. Don't get me wrong it's great fuel. The engine loves it. I would think that the glycerin in veggie oil would put a hell of a strain on the 6.7's fuel system at the pressure it runs at. But what do I know? I'd definitely check it out close before I did.

The 6.7 isn't much different than the 5.9's with Cats. I know that the 5.9's didn't have a problems with veggie kits. I would think that you could convert the 6.7 over to veggie with similar kits. The only difference will be is with the CAT/DPF. I don't recommend doing it, but if I would be converting a 6.7, you would have remove it. I've read on this site that someone has straight piped a 6.7 without any CELs.

i answerd your other post, but for those not reading it.
the only reason b-100 and e-85 is more expensive. is the fuel companies.
you can go south of our border and buy cheep diesel, bring losts of fuel filters...
b-100 prices vary with the diesel prices, but the process to make it does not change. as the price of electricity, methanol and lye has not gone up.
methanol will go up, due to being made from petroleum. the other method using ethanol and acid.
as to the original question, i am waiting to see. i'm currently using a 95% filtered wvo, diesel mix in a two tank system. on a idi engine. i start and stop on 95% diesel. and run on heated and 5 micron filtered 95% wvo.
i do loose some power on wvo, but the exhaust is much cleaner.
i will be watching this subject closely, as i'm waiting on a 08 6.7.
