Veggie oil mixed with Diesel????
Could I mix 5 gallons of veggie oil (new) with 3/4 of a tank of diesel and be safe?? Sometimes at local discounted grocery stores, they sell bulk (5 gallons) of cooking oil real cheap. I thought about diluting with the diesel to lower fuel prices.
I'm starting to buy in the bio-fuel concept. What are your thoughts

Some say you can, Most say you can't. You risk coking up your rings and injectors running SVO or a diluted mix with diesel. However, at http://www.greasel.com they have kits to use SVO or WVO (Waste Veg Oil) by heating the oil before it gets to the inj. pump.
You can convert the SVO to biodiesel fairly easily if you have the time and tanks etc. Look at http://journeytoforever.org/biofuel.html for lots of good info.
Good luck.

think you are alone thinking of cooking oil?
From the UK:
The Asda supermarket in Llanelli, south Wales, has slapped a ration on cooking oil sales, after astonished internal auditors found that it was selling far more than any other outlet in the country. Customs investigators are also involved in the "sniff patrols", which home in on any car smelling like a mobile fish and chip shop.
"It's a serious offence," said Bill O'Leary, spokesman for customs and excise, which levies tax on motor oil but not on the version used in saucepans. "By law, all cars on public roads must pay a tax on the fuel they use. Evasion carries a maximum seven-year jail term."

Not really, they actually are so cheap at abandoned vehicle auctions, I hate to see them get crushed. I 'saved' several for $35, one went for $15. I have several over 300k, and many don't even need frt end work. But then ball jts are $6, as are wheel cyl.I use them to save tires, brakes and wear and tear on the CTD... but when I get hit, it will all be history
I'm insured, the wife will get by just fine
RE: SVO, find out which brand you like the best, maybe we can get a railcar... Local Frito plant uses 70,000#/ week (yes, we're eat'n it
) We tried to get their waste for our Bio_D factory, but they don't have ANY, all gets 'down-cycled'
(i.e., from cheetos to fritos...) They don't even use Bio-D in their fleet, oil brings better $$ in consumer foods. Most of our PNW renderer's Yellow Tallow goes to Asia, via Port of Tacoma for 'cosmetics, soap, and food'
Think about that next time you encounter those lush-ess lips...
Well I got curious.... thats bad
It cost me more than diesel but wanted to see the effects on my truck. I have about ten gallons of fuel in the tank so I added a gallon of cooking oil to the tank. It is soybean oil. I have to say one thing, the engine is sure quieter, inside the cab or outside the truck. If I like the idea, I might look for a source and add some to see where it goes.
