2 Cycle Oil Mixed with Diesel?

Has anyone added 2 Cycle oil to their diesel fuel? This guy posted it up on his site. He uses a Mixture Ratio of 128:1. Like for every 25 gallons of diesel he'll had 25 ounces of 2 Cycle oil. I guess it makes sense adding lube to Injector Pump. What do you guys think about adding 2 Cycle oil?

I ran it for a while, couldn't see or hear any difference so I quit, diesel's expensive enough without addin the oil cost to it.

I have using the 2 cycle oil in the truck now for about 9 months. Prior to that Power Service and any othere oil I could find except used motor oil. The two cycle oil does quiet the engine down when run at 128:1 (1oz/gallon) I think, in my truck that is a little more than I need and use 1/2 oz/gal.

I personally think its necessary to run some sort of lube in the fuel to help with the rotary pumps. ie VP44 and LP. They do have bearings at the ends of the shafts. When the fuel is to dry, again in my opinion one might see a failure.

My LP's have gone 95,000 and 86,000. Truck has 189,000 on it now with the original VP44. Lucky? Most likely. I really think alot of LP failures are due to low voltage from the ECM or wiring problems.

I've been running it for several months. I can't tell that it makes the engine any quieter, but it has to help lube the IP. The diesel you buy now sure doesn't.

I don't know if it builds up or what, but I do have to run Synergen 20+ Cetane thru a tank every couple of months to get the mileage back up a little. I run my Smarty on #1 and the 20+ will get it to smoking again.

Fern,
Myself and others here use the Penzoil two-cycle available at walmart.
Others say they can't tell any difference, but by my limited cyphering I saw
a two mile to the gallon difference.
20 gallons @ 400 miles = 20 MPG versus 20 gallons @ 440 miles = 22MPG
at $4.00 US. a gallon it pays for the two stroke and a decent hamburger and I feel better knowing the pumps get some love and the compression ring and valve guides too.
Even if I'm wrong what does it harm?

My truck has 194K on it and I'm the second owner. I just replaced the LP, the fuel pressure was at 2.5 psi at idle... Now it's at 17 psi thanks to FASS. Think any harm was done to the original VP44? lol... That's why I'm investing time now to keep that VP44 lubed.
What's the best mix ratio, and there's got to be better 2 cycle oil than pennzoil. Where are the other threads that talked about 2 cycle oil?

Don't use synthetic. It can leave unburnable deposits. Use good, old-school marine-grade dino-oil. I know you have the urge to pour a nice high-grade oil in, but it really isn't needed.

I run it, and mileage went up about 0.5 mpg. I don't run it for the mileage, though - it was just an added bonus.

For reference - many cummins long-haul engine now employ a system that automatically mixes used engine oil into the diesel and replenishes the oil pan with clean oil continuously. Cool system, huh? So, by my judgment, if cummins squirts oil in with the diesel intentionally, I don't see why we can't. It sure can't hurt (as long as you don't go 1:1 on the mixture ).

I use the Wal Mart Super Tech Marine. I try to fill up at 1/2 tank and put a small bottle in each time. I saved 8 of the small bottles and refill them from a gallon jug now.

Don't use a red colored 2 cycle oil. The DOT will think your running off road fuel.

I have been using it since I bought my truck in January, as soon as I put it in i noticed a big diff. in noise, so it must be good on the pump. I buy a gallon of supertech 2stroke at Wal-Mart for $8. But I also Put a quart every fill up wether its a full fill up or half fill up. A few weeks ago I found a store that was closing and bought up all there two strok oil for cheap.... Two weeks ago I ran out and put two quart of used oil in 15gallon diesel.....but I would rather run new oil nowing its cleaner....even if strained.....2 Stroke oil it meant to be burned....just my cents....I am willing to try anything to save my VP44...
