Question Winter fuel yet?

Truck seems a little down in power. Are we into winter fuel yet? Will change filters out and see what happens. Thanks, John

Hmm, never heard of winter fuel. Is this for every state or just a certin few?

Why do they switch it up anyway?

They usually don't start blending until October.

Usually just the northern states and where it reaches freezing temps.

It is a blend of #1 and #2 fuel to lower the gelling point of diesel. Some places add additives to their fuel to lower the gelling point. If the fuel gells the truck will not run. It's like a gas vehicle with ice in the fuel lines.

Not till the temps drop a lot more. Usaly around Thanksgiving or after around here so St Louis should be after that yet. Needs to be around freezing before it is nesasary.

I highly doubt that we are into winter fuel. The lowest I have seen here so far this fall is 36. I expect them to change from summer to winter in about 3-4 weeks around here. If you live in Wisconsin and are close to a Fleet Farm, get your fuel there. Last winter I started using their fuel and saw almost 3mpg more.

It was in the Sacramento Bee paper Thursday that in CA that winter Diesel fuel will be at the pumps this weekend because of the shortage and to stabilize the price at the pump.

I asked the station owner where I get my fuel the same question. He said it's usually around the 3rd week of October here in MA.
