Re:What is the RPMS on a 410 at?
BusinessLink,
If you know what mph you're running at a given rpm with a 4.10 geared truck, multiply that mph number by .9 to give you the new speed using 4.56's.
If its a 3.73 geared truck, use .82 as the multiple.
For example, my 4.10 geared truck goes about 62 mph @ 2000 rpm; if I was to put in 4.56's then @ 2000 rpm it would do about (.9)*(62 mph) = 56 mph (rounded).
oh btw, 4.1/4.56 = .899 = .9
Tach'ing out @ 3200 rpm: w/4.10's = 96 mph; w/4.56's = 86 mph

Bulabula, Thank You! That is exactly what he needed to know. My customer will be ordering a 2003 3500 Graphite, SLT, QC, HO 6spd, w/ a flat bed, exhaust brake, twin chrome stacks, full replacement brush guard, and aftermarket 4.56 gears from Nagolitos Gear in San Antonio, TX on Friday. It is going to be a tricked out haul truck! He is a contractor in the Texas Hill Country and needs a truck to pull his backhoe up and down these hills around here. Once we get it all together I will post pics of the rig so y'all can tell me what you think. Once again, I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Jason
Actually, Shovelhead, he is going to use it to haul a Case 580 Super M backhoe with a Tramac 300 hyd. hammer on a 30ft. gooseneck. He is currently using a 1995 Ferd F-Super Duty with 4.88's and a 460 gasser mated to a 5 spd. stick. He likes the power of the 460, but he can't go more than 100 miles without refueling. He has been so impressed with the Cummins engine in his Case backhoes (which I sold him last year) that he just had to get an '03 HO 6-shooter to haul his tractors. It is going to be a mean a$$ truck when we get through rigging it, can't wait to see the finished product.

I don't tow yet but may in the future but I need the mpg...half a dozen of one,...
Funny you mention the signature. I had one of the first '02's 1500 QC and posted a signature that listed my options. Now my truck has every option from the accent kit to the hard tonneau top. I got reamed by folks who said I was bragging on this other forum. I figured like you, let people know so they can learn from you.
I really like the 1500 but can't live with the mpg, plus...I more I study, the more I want the diesel. Meeting with the dealer Saturday (2-15) and got bank approval today for 4.5%

That was the Lone Ranger (or Tonto, one or the other) that got the 4.5%. Hey, watch for the incentives. It was 2% for 60 months here a couple weeks ago. Guess they wanted to move some vehicles. Now Chevy is advertising $2000 below invoice. Someone is desperate - - course it could be they are trying to get rid of those Chubies. They teed so many people off with their attitude when the Duramax came out I wouldn't drive one even if I wanted one. Really rotten attitudes.

Behave Bob. Just have another sip of tea. (Yeh, that's ice tea - - so hot here. )

LaidBackBob

Just beware of out of state banks.

They have their own rules.
