I am wanting to swap my 48re for a G56. Any help with this would be great.
Here is my list of changes so far;

- T case input shaft
- Clutch/Hydraulics
- ECM
- Misc. interior pcs.

Thanks

i'm doing the same thing in my 03 right now, except im going with the nv4500.

You may want to check out www.high-impact.net
I am orderin my kit from them. If you would rather do it all by pieicing things together, your going to need:

*Bell Housing
*New Fuse box
*clutch
*clutch and brake pedal
*shifter stick
*ECM can be reflashed i believe
*trans
*t-case or 29 spline input shaft. if you go with the new t-case you will also need new driveshafts because i believe the front is a few inches longer and the rear is a few inches shorter in a manual truck.
*New trans mount/crossmember (crossmember may not be neccessary)
*Master/Slave Cylinder
*Release Fork
*Engine adapter/Flywheel housing (auto parts will work on 03, not sure about 07)
*Clutch Linkages

Let me knnow if you need anything else, this is a start at least.

Ok, you guys with manual trans....
What would make it appealing to swap to an auto? Would you swap if the transmission had some fresh DTT or other aftermarket parts? Would you want extra money?
Chime in and let's hear what would it take?

I think someone may be interested in trading if you were throwing in a built Trans...esp those interested in running their truck at the drag strip. The old drag strip is just not friendly on the handshakers. However, for most, they made the decision to skip the auto for the manual, so obviously you are going against the grain. Additionally, I think there are far less manuals out there than autos, which also limits the group available. Finally, I think the biggest concern is that something in the swap may not go right, and the fact that this would not be covered under warranty. To get a clearer picture of this, how many miles are on your truck and where are you located?

The best/easiest way to do it, is to have two same year trucks next to each other and swap part for part across...
Id like to do the same, but I havent found a truck the same WB for the swap, so I dont have to buy/cut down/extend my driveshafts...

Ill bet you can find someone that would be willing to swap for a built auto easily...

Absolutely, if you had a built auto id swap in a heartbeat (providing i had the funds to assist with labor). And you'd get a dual disc clutch.
