Well I just had to have my 03 toed to a dealer,was on the start of a trip when it lost power then died will start and run but after a few mins it dies out with a puff of white smoke out the tail pipe.

I thought maybe bad fuel so I drained most of it and refilled it adding some water cleaner additive,halped a lil but not much.

I wont hear anything till monday when they get in but any guesses? I was getting a fuel del malfuction code with it though.

Change the fuel filter?

 

I would def. check fuel filter first. My guess is from the symptoms, sounds like lift pump, or CP3

 

Filters were changed less then a month ago.

If u got a bad tank of diesel last week than i guess that doesnt matter than,
similar thing happened to me

 

Im still wondering if its not bad fuel,I got fuel yesterday and I noticed a odd idel to it then today with the break down i am still guessing,u know I tryed like 4 diffrent diesel places around were I was sitting and no one had any way to test it? I hope Dodge does at least.

fca might be a little sticky..turn key to run not start u should hear fast clicking.

 

Yea I hear it and the pump running,when I drained it I just open the drain on the filter and tuned the key to start it and it turned on the pump and man it ran out,it drained the tank in about 1/2 doing that on off on off.

Dodge said it was the lift pump,and they are covering that,I have to pay $110.00 out of pocket,sucks it cost me $275.00 to tow it there but at least Dodge is covering the work and part..

Dodge should pay the tow... mine's @ dealer now for same thing!

 

i think once the truck is out of 3/36,000 warranty, there is a $100 deductible for engine/powertrain warranty repairs.
thing that sux is that when you figure the cost of tow+deductible, he is only around $100 short of the cost of an Airdog.

 

It was fixed after the dealer tryed to pull it was not covered and tryed to bink me 600 bucks, I had to call dodge and have them deal with Zimmermans Dodge in sumbury Pa,all of a sudden it was a typo mistake.

Since this has happened im sitting in MD right now becuse the truck died on me during a trip,same problom almost so its at a dealer right now,seems it got me stuck againe,been stuck since friday of last week.

I like Dodge vec's ok enough but if this is there idea of fixing stuff and professional service the truck might have to go.
