truck stinks

ok had the oil changed same brand decided to try the 2 cycle oil addition to fuel. truck stills has the converter on it. hooked up to the trailer and headed to albequerque nm. stopped to put fuel in it at clovis noticed a stink like bad sewer or kinda like sulphur, thought it was a dairy or feed lot blowing thru. stopped in santa rosa to do walk around same smell, get to albequerque get out at the motel and smell it and determin that its the truck. son agrees . ok so is it the 2 cycle or what

I have run 2 stroke from time to time and never have that smell. Never had a cat on my diesel trucks, but with other cars the sulphur smell usually means that the converter is going out. Had that smell in my old mustang and the converters were completely shot. Don't know what makes it smell like that, but don't know what else it could be.

What type of oil are you using in the engine crankcase? If it is Rotella, it will stink.

I think i know what you are talking about. To me before i removed the cat the exhaust smelled a little like cinnamon. I never ran 2 stroke with the cat though. But since i removed it my exhaust now smells pretty normal.

I use rotella also, for the first couple days there is a faint rotella smell when the truck is running but not moving.

Question fellers.... how does 2 stroke help out? Is it like adding back the sulphur to the fuel that Uncle Sam took out? kind of like the old mothballs in the fuel tank trick for big rigs or what....

It doesn't bother the injectors any? Wonder what it does for mileage? prolly not much, lol. I know you haul quite a bit so it'd be hard for you to tell if it affects your mileage or not, rich.

I run 2 stroke to quiet the injector knock. Substantially quieter (except with winter fuel). Can almost go through the drive through without having to shut the truck off. No difference in power or mileage at all, towing or empty. Slight blue haze at idle when the engine is cold, but thats it. Turns the fuel filter a nice light blue though.

Hmm... that's interesting. I might try that. Anyways, not trying to hijack the thread, just curious. Thanks.

I run 2 stroke also. This post pretty much sums it up. I run a stronger blend in the winter because of the lack of lubrication in winter fuel. 2 stroke also prevents fuel gelling in the winter. B20 would be nice in the summer if i could find some but you run a risk in the winter up here.

rich, is the smell problem taken care of ?
