Trans temp gauge??

OK, I know I am getting a Autometer Trans temp gauge that mounts to the A-pillar and has a spot for my Edge Attitude monitor.. My question is, what is the best way to install the temp sensor.. drill the pan?? Place it inline to the tranny cooler?? If so, How is that done??

Basically, I want to know how everyone else did theres??

Thanks in advance

Brian

I think diesel manor has the hot line with a fitting built into it.

No, that's not it. They make a direct bolt in line.

Here is the place. Here is what I put on mine. I had a dealer put it in for me. Not enough time for me, most people did it at home.http://www.dieselmanor.com/dm_products/DM-CLG3.asp

I chose the cheaper method and drilled the side of my stock tranny pan, installed a B&M universal drain plug, and mounted my sensor there. Less than $10.

My $.02

I installed my sensor in the pressure test port on the right rear of the tranny. Quick, easy, free. Easy to undo as well, just incase any warranty questions arise (as opposed to drilling your pan). Some may question the validity of the temperature reading at that location. I'm guessing it's reading 10-20° under. I've never had it read over 210°, but I've never had the stock tranny temp idiot light come on either (which I believe lights up at 240°).

Says its just a swagelok fitting, some one on here told me the line was 1/2". The pic on diesel manor says that its 5/8". Which one is right? it seems to me it would be cheaper jsut to buy a swagelok, there very easy to install. So what size is the line on our 3rd gens? Im not at home right now so could some one say for sure? Ive got to order the parts pretty quick so they will be waiting for me when I get home.

I just put mine in the hot line. Much more accurate readings. I purchased some parts from Napa (about $15.00), cut the tranny line, and installed the parts. It is a 1/2" tranny line for the hot lines. I also have the part numbers for the 1st illistration in this post. It will not let me just post the picture.
