Tranny Problems

hey all, just bought a 2004 3500 and have trans problem. when I take off my trans sometimes will not go into 1st gear,,,, and when coming to a stop it sometimes won't downshift all the way???? any help will be great

Ya know I just pulled codes out and the only one is p1762 gov. pres..........well any way to check this???

ok after some more looking I think Its the governor in trans is this a dealership item only?
