Stock Trans pan drain bolt?
Stock Trans pan drain bolt?
Has anyone installed their own drain bolt in the stock transmission pan? Just wondering if it can be done. The only reason I would be getting the Mag Hytec trans pan is for the ease of draining the trans fluid, sure would like to save the $275 for someting else.
I have installed one in my '04. B&M makes a drain plug kit specially for transmissions. If you can weld or braze, you can do what I did. Take the B&M kit and cut off most of the threaded part that sticks thru the hole you drill in your pan. Then braze the fitting onto the pan on the outside. I did both inside and outside to be sure to not have any pinholes for fluid to leak thru. If you use the kit as furnished by B&M, you will have about 1/4" of fluid left in the pan after draining. This is because of the nut on the inside. Cutting it off like I did allows almost a complete drain. I also put one on my wife's '03 Liberty.
